Information we collect

We collect the information you provide directly to us when you use Split & Buy. This can include your name, phone number, email address, profile photo, general location, buyer-group listings, join requests, messages sent within buyer-group chats, and any information you share when contacting support.

We may also collect technical information automatically, such as device details, browser type, IP address, approximate location inferred from your network, pages viewed, referral links, and activity timestamps. If location features are enabled, we may use more precise location data to help show nearby buyer-groups.

How we use information

• Operate the platform, including creating accounts, displaying profiles, publishing buyer-groups, and enabling private buyer-group chats.
• Show relevant buyer-groups based on your general location, activity, and preferences.
• Maintain trust and safety, investigate reports, moderate misuse, and support dispute mediation when a support agent is invited into a buyer-group chat.
• Improve the product, measure engagement, diagnose bugs, and plan future features.
• Send service-related messages, security notices, and updates about material changes to the platform or these policies.

How information is shared

Your profile information, buyer-group activity, and messages are shared only to the extent needed for the service to work. For example, users who join the same buyer-group can see participant details and the messages posted inside that buyer-group chat.

• With other users when you create, join, or participate in a buyer-group.
• With service providers who help us host, secure, analyze, or support the platform.
• With professional advisers, regulators, or law enforcement where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the platform.
• As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality measures.

Current MVP limits

Split & Buy is currently designed primarily as a discovery and coordination platform. In the MVP, buyer-groups arrange payment, delivery, collection, and fulfilment among themselves unless we explicitly state otherwise in the product.

That means information shared inside a buyer-group may be used by members to coordinate off-platform payments, logistics, or collection. You should exercise care before sharing sensitive personal or financial information with other users.

Data retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, and maintain safety records. We may retain certain logs, reports, and moderation records for longer where needed to investigate abuse or protect the platform.

Your choices

• You may update or correct your profile information through your account, where available.
• You may request account deletion or access to your information by contacting us.
• You may opt out of non-essential marketing communications, but you will still receive important service and legal notices when necessary.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for using caution when engaging with other users.

Children

Split & Buy is not intended for children under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate authorization, we may delete that information and suspend the related account.

Changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice through the platform or by email.
