Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using Split & Buy, you agree to these Terms of Use and any policies referenced in them. If you do not agree, you should not use the platform.

These terms apply to your use of our website, buyer-group listings, private buyer-group chats, support interactions, and any related services we make available.

What Split & Buy currently provides

Split & Buy is currently a marketplace for discovery and coordination. Users can create buyer-groups, browse nearby opportunities, join buyer-groups, and communicate with other members in a dedicated group chat.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Split & Buy does not purchase goods for users, take custody of goods, guarantee vendors, process escrow, hold participant funds, arrange fulfilment, or manage delivery and collection on behalf of buyer-groups in the current MVP.

Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement to use the platform.
• You must provide accurate information and keep your account details up to date.
• You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account and for maintaining the security of your login credentials.
• We may request additional verification information where needed for safety, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

User responsibilities

• Post only genuine buyer-groups and accurate descriptions of the goods, quantities, pricing expectations, and timing involved.
• Communicate truthfully with other users and do not impersonate any person, business, or authority.
• Use the platform lawfully and do not use it to facilitate fraud, theft, harassment, money laundering, illegal goods, or any other prohibited activity.
• Independently assess the risks of joining or organizing any buyer-group, including quality, delivery, pricing, collection, and counterparty reliability.

Buyer-group coordination and off-platform dealings

In the current version of Split & Buy, buyer-groups usually coordinate payment, sourcing, logistics, and collection among themselves. Any transfer of money, exchange of goods, delivery arrangement, or offline meeting between users is at the users' own risk.

Split & Buy is not a party to those arrangements and is not responsible for losses arising from non-payment, non-delivery, poor quality, damaged goods, late fulfilment, disputes between members, or conduct that occurs outside the platform.

Support and moderation

We may investigate reports, remove content, restrict visibility, suspend accounts, or take other action where we believe it is necessary to protect users or the platform.

If a Split & Buy support agent is invited into a buyer-group chat for dispute mediation, that agent acts as a moderator based on available information. Unless we explicitly operate a payment or escrow product for that buyer-group, support involvement does not make Split & Buy responsible for the underlying transaction.

User content

You retain ownership of the content you submit, including listings, messages, photos, and profile details. You grant Split & Buy a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, use, reproduce, adapt, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate, improve, promote, and secure the platform.

You represent that you have the rights needed to post your content and that it does not violate the law or the rights of others.

Disclaimers

• The platform is provided on an as-is and as-available basis.
• We do not guarantee that buyer-groups will fill, that listed pricing is accurate, that goods will be available, or that any user will perform as promised.
• We do not warrant uninterrupted access, complete security, or that the service will always be error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Split & Buy and its affiliates, officers, employees, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, or business opportunity arising out of or related to your use of the platform.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the platform will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the relevant service in the twelve months before the claim or NGN 50,000, if you paid nothing.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may notify users through the platform or by email.
